They also have sleek, compact, and lightweight design elements. However, remember that the best low-cost tablets run Android or FireOS. In other words, forget about snagging a slate from Apple’s pricey slate portfolio — even the iPad mini is expensive.

The best tablets for under $200 include the 2020 Amazon Fire HD 8 and the Lenovo Smart Tab M10 Plus. If you’re looking for some of the best cheap tablets on the market, these are two heavy hitters.

Consider getting the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition(opens in a new tab), which has a sharper screen, a protective case, free kid-friendly content, and a 2-year no-questions-asked return policy. You can even get Google Play on a Fire Tablet with a little trickery (though there are some security issues).

What is the best low-cost tablet?

The Lenovo Smart Tab M10 Plus is the best low-cost tablet (2020). This tablet’s vivid, colourful display, a wide array of ports, and ability to double as a smart display make it the best cheap tablet. The Lenovo Smart Tab M10 Plus also comes with a free Lenovo Charging Dock, which you can use to charge the tablet. While the tablet is charging, you can activate Google Assistant Ambient Mode, turning it into a smart display. Lenovo Smart Tab M10 Plus (2020):

The Lenovo Smart Tab M10 Plus is the best low-cost tablet ever created. It’s the most entertaining and engaging tablet I’ve ever reviewed. It also functions as a smart display, so you can activate Google Assistant Ambient Mode and place it on a flat surface to display your favourite photos, upcoming calendar events, weather information, and news updates. Your tablet can control smart-home devices.

Xiaomi Pad 5:

The Xiaomi Pad 5 significantly improved over its predecessor from 2018, the Mi Pad 4. It includes several enhancements, such as an 11-inch, 120Hz display, an upgraded Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 chip, and a refined Mobile Internet UI (MIUI). What exactly is an MIUI? It’s another Android OS variant Xiaomi developed that we like on the Pad 5.

Amazon Fire HD 8 (2020):

The Amazon Fire HD 8 2020 is the best low-cost tablet in Amazon’s FireOS lineup. It has a camera on the side bezel for taking landscape photos and making video calls with Zoom, Google Meet, and other apps. It also integrates Alexa for fun and engaging voice controls. Because it is a tablet filled with the Amazon ecosystem, such as the Audible and Prime Video apps, the Amazon Fire HD 8 2020 is best for those with a Prime subscription. The Amazon Fire HD 8 2020 tablet has its app store, so don’t expect to find the familiar Google App Store.

Lenovo Yoga 10.1 Android Tablet:

From its half-fabric, half-aluminum chassis to its sleek, lightweight footprint, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 11 has a pretty sweet design. Not to mention its one-of-a-kind built-in kickstand. The kickstand is a hanger, allowing users to hang the slate against a wall for hands-free movie viewing.

We also admired the sharp, vivid, and well-balanced colours on the 11-inch, 2K display. The Yoga Tab 11’s powerful, clear speakers are another major selling point for the Lenovo tablet. Its battery life is also quite impressive, lasting nearly 12 hours.

Of course, because it costs around $200, the Yoga Tab 11 makes some compromises, which users may notice with its average, so-so cameras. Overall, the Yoga Tab 11 received 4.5 stars because it gives users a lot of bang for their buck.

Amazon10.1 Android Tablet 0 Kids Edition:

If you want to get something bigger for your child while staying under $200, we recommend the Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition. Its battery lasted an incredible 13 hours and 29 minutes, and it, like its predecessor, comes with a slew of parental controls and a 2-year warranty. Its 10-inch display is bright (411 nits) and colourful, covering 103% of the sRGB colour gamut. It is by far one of the best cheap tablets for children.

10.1 Android Tablet Tab A7:

The Galaxy Tab A7 can receive notifications and texts from your phone. You can even use it to make calls and send messages. If you have a Samsung TV, you can control and manage it with the Galaxy Tab A7. 10.1 Android Tablet

The Galaxy Tab A7 also impressed us with its long battery life, which lasted more than 13 hours. It has a sweet-sounding quad-speaker Dolby Atmos system and a colourful, vivid 10.4-inch, 2000 x 1200-pixel display. Lenovo Tab 4 Plus, 10-inch

The Lenovo Tab 4 Plus is the Tab 4’s replacement:

This 10.1-inch tablet has an eye-catching, vivid display, a comfortable design that is easy on the hands, and excellent battery life. However, you will receive an older version of Android. Simultaneously, the Tab 4 10 Plus is a highly rated media tablet for the price, especially since it comes with a nice pair of cameras and solid speakers. It’s no surprise it has four out of five stars on Amazon.
