The Future of AI is now built into your PC with Ryzen AI CPU

Ryzen AI CPURyzen AI CPUs have emerged to offer a superior balance of performance and power in the competitive CPU market. Ryzen is a brand of multi-core microprocessors designed and marketed by Advanced Micro Devices for desktop, mobile, server and embedded platforms.

Unlike AMD’s closest competitors such as Ryzen AI CPUs, AMD processors have historically hit that sweet spot of high performance and cost-effectiveness. Hence greatly increasing their popularity among professionals and gamers.

Ryzen AI CPU Performance:

The performance improvement in the Zen 5 mobile chips may seem modest, but what sets it apart from AMD’s last-generation processors is the use of a more powerful NPU that can hit up to 50 TOPS. While the Ryzen AI 300 PC won’t come with Copilot+ features at launch, it will eventually get it via a Windows update later this year. Additionally, apps that support AI processing on devices from AMD can already take advantage of the chip’s NPU.

The last time Strix Point (AMD’s codename for the upcoming Ryzen AI 300 series) was spotted in a Geekbench leak, it was turning in impressive test scores but running in silent mode. This power-saving means the chip only reaches a core clock of 3.67 GHz, just shy of a recorded boost clock of 4.2 GHz.

Today’s test scores completely free the processor, with the two chips hitting 4.5 and 4.8 GHz The 4.5 GHz chip still carries the old “Ryzen AI 9 HX 170” name for the 370, the other being an unnamed engineering sample.

The Ryzen AI 9 365 has a maximum boost clock of 5.0 GHz, using four Zen5 cores and six Zen5c cores. AMD hasn’t confirmed the clock speed for the Zen5c core though. Preliminary tests indicate that the Zen5 cores run at 3.3 GHz, with each core operating independently at its respective frequency.

The tested APU is equipped with 32GB LPDDR5X memory, rated for 7500 MT/s. In the SPEC CPU test, all processors were locked at 4.8 GHz for the classic core, revealing a 22% relative improvement in the Zen5 over the Zen4, with an estimated 9.7% IPC increase over their predecessors.

In the Geekbench 6 single-core performance evaluation, the Zen5 architecture demonstrated a 15% IPC gain over the Zen4, and in Geekbench 5, this value increased to 17.6%.

Two new engineering samples of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU were found on Geekbench today, beating out the highest-end Zen 4 mobile processor running at full speed.

As with our previous coverage, below is a table of best results for the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 that compares the results of this latest batch (4.5 GHz test) to the June 7 results. As well as its predecessor, the Ryzen 9 8945HS and AMD’s fastest available mobile processor.

Ryzen AI CPU Release Date:

The Ryzen AI 300 series is still a few weeks away from release, but new Geekbench scores show good performance for the chips. AMD announced at Computex 2024 its next-generation Ryzen laptop processor for generative AI workloads: the Ryzen AI 300 series.

It’s a rebrand of its top-tier Ryzen 9 chips. AMD is set to reveal its next Gen 5 processors soon, with the Ryzen AI 300 and Ryzen 9000 rumored to arrive on July 15 and 31.
