Apple Could Launch a 20.3-Inch Foldable Macbook Pro 2027 – TDT.com
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst, Apple is actively working on a foldable 20.3-inch MacBook. Kuo did not provide details about the foldable MacBook. It is expected to start mass production in 2027. In a recent post on X/Twitter, Kuo confirmed that this foldable MacBook is currently an Apple-only product.
It is a foldable product with a clear development schedule. Kuo’s revelation comes amid frequent inquiries about whether Apple plans to mass-produce a foldable iPhone or iPad in 2025 or 2026. His latest research indicates that Apple may explore these options, but the foldable MacBook is the only device with a specific timeline.
This isn’t the first rumour about Apple’s possible foldable MacBook. In 2022, display industry analyst Ross Young and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said in a report that Apple is interested in launching a foldable device with a screen size of around 20.3 inches.
However, details about the foldable MacBook’s design still need to be available. However, it will have a single foldable OLED display that can be used in different configurations. As such, the bottom half of the screen can be fully unfolded in laptop mode or on a large tablet with a virtual keyboard.
Meanwhile, competitors like Samsung, Motorola and Huawei have released foldable smartphones. After all, Apple has yet to release a MacBook with an OLED display or even a touchscreen. Apple seems more cautious, focusing on perfecting the technology before bringing its products to market. It will be interesting to see how Apple’s unique form factor fares as the market for foldable devices evolves.
As Apple’s first foldable product, it will be interesting to see which design is chosen and which hardware configuration will be present. But we are still relatively far from the actual release of 2027.
