The 617-hp twin-turbo V-8 engine of the 2025 BMW M8 has such mind-blowing performance that it can reach 60 mph in only 2.5 seconds. The M8 travels a quarter mile at 129 mph in under 10.7 seconds. That is faster than a 710-hp Ferrari 488 Pista from a vehicle that weighs more than two tons and has a rear seat. Put that down to an overachieving engine and all-wheel drive traction. The M8 is really quick, yet thanks to its smooth transition to criminal speeds and its solidity, when clamped to the pavement, going fast, feels almost guilt-free.

The M8 cockpit is well-appointed and features a sizable touchscreen screen to handle navigation or audio choices. It is available as a coupe and convertible (the four-door M8 Gran Coupe is reviewed separately). Its rear seat, however, isn’t a useful area. The M8 is a huge coupe with even bigger performance figures, making it one of the cheapest vehicles that will consistently allow you to complete a quarter-mile in less than 10 seconds.

2025 BMW M8 Price

The M8 is unique in its class even at its high-end premium price point. At this price point, there aren’t really any vehicles that can compete with their performance, appearance, or features. The MSRP for the 2023 BMW M8 starts at $134,100. The M8 is easily a $150,000 vehicle when equipped with extras. For instance, adding $18,400 to the base price will add the M carbon bucket seats, M carbon exterior package, and M carbon ceramic brakes.

What has changed for 2025?

The BMW M8 has only had a few tweaks for 2025. Every M8 now features a new 12.3-inch infotainment display, while the kidney grille has been slightly updated and is now illuminated.

2025 BMW M8 Performance – Engine, Transmission, and Other

The 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 that powers the 2025 BMW M8 produces 617 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. The powerful engine is coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system with a rear bias that can cut power to the front axle. We’ve had a chance to spend some time driving the coupe and convertible M8 Competition, and we were awestruck by their elegant demeanor and responsive powertrains. The 4251-pound M8 Comp coupe’s extremely rapid acceleration, reaching 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds, assailed us when we attached our test equipment to it.

Although the BMW’s exhaust noise doesn’t exactly excite as much as that of its Mercedes-AMG competitors, it is incredibly speedy, and its automatic transmission is incredibly intelligent. Thanks to a supple ride that belies its track-focused qualities, the M8 didn’t torture us on normal roads. Don’t mistake its charm for weakness, though.

Massive amounts of grip are provided by the M8 chassis, which also transmits some feedback to the thick-rimmed steering wheel. The M8 is a fascinating partner whenever the route widens or becomes winding thanks to its blend of rapidity and nimbleness. Unfortunately, the couple’s 4251-pound curb weight is distributed over its front axle more than half of the time, which would explain why it struggles to rotate more easily. The adjustable brake pedal, too, didn’t feel very engaging to us.

Its cabin offers plenty of room for passengers in the front seats, but it treats those confined to the cramped back seats as inferiors. The four-door M8 Gran Coupe should be taken into consideration by those. Who wants an M8 and frequently need to transport more than two people? We were able to fit five carry-on bags in the trunk of an 8-series coupe, so we anticipate that the M8 will offer a similar amount of space.

Connectivity and Information

Every M8 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen in the center of the dashboard that serves as the center of BMW’s infotainment system. A rotary controller and actual buttons on the center console are used in addition to the primary display. Although some of the choices are crowded and force the driver to take their eyes off the road. The interface has clear graphics and responds quickly. Even so, the system’s voice commands functioned effectively, and gesture controls are an option. Apple CarPlay (but not Android Auto), a Wi-Fi hotspot with a monthly fee, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system are desirable standard equipment.
